BBC recently released a plethora of stills from the 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special “The Time of the Doctor”, and not only do they confirm a couple of theories drifting around the web, but they show some bizarre enemies as well!

The 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special airs in just over two weeks and the BBC has given us some inside looks at what’ll happen! The synopsis for the episode reads:

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.

It looks like Cybermen will get an upgrade that the Doctor won’t be able to alter so easily, as a wooden cyberman makes his appearance. Could it be they’ve finally found a solution that could work against his sonic screwdriver?

Meanwhile, we also see the Daleks attacking the town and more Cyberman in the depths of the TARDIS, which we first saw in “Journey to the Center of the TARDIS” earlier this year. We’re excited about seeing more TARDIS hallways, but scared for what this might mean for Matt Smith’s Doctor.

Interestingly enough there’s a woman in these stills, Tasha Lem portrayed by Orla Brady, whose character was previously described by DigitalSpy to be “someone from the Doctor’s past, with the plot of the festive episode revolving around her.” Could she be a member of the Sisterhood of Karn? Perhaps that’s why she’d holding a goblet with some sort of elixir, the catalyst for Smith’s regeneration, even? Although, it is also possible that she is the one responsible for mysterious signal that is attracting this episode’s monsters.

We’re super excited to see what BBC has in store for us this Christmas, and we’re sure that in the next couple of weeks there will be even more sneak peaks to share with you all. The 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special will air on BBC One at 7:30 pm GST, and on BBC America at 9:00 pm EST.
