Chiwetel Ejiofor is reportedly working on closing a deal to star alongside his 12 Years a Slave co-star Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

Back in early December Marvel finally confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch would be the star in Doctor Strange, which left some fans upset and some fans ecstatic, but now we’re hearing more about the film’s other cast members. This now reportedly includes the wildly impressive Academy Award nominated actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The two actors were seen together in last year’s Oscar winner, 12 Years a Slave, and we’re excited to hear that Ejiofor is reportedly working on his contract for his Doctor Strange role. The role is currently unknown, but The Wrap is reporting that multiple insiders have said he’s definitely “circling a role.”

Back in December Marvel President Kevin Feige commented on Cumberbatch’s casting, saying, “Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity. In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”

Marvel have always seemed excited about Doctor Strange as a film, and having an actor of Ejiofor’s calibre join the film alongside Benedict is very exciting. It’s especially interesting considering their last time acting together was in such a serious film, while we imagine Doctor Strange will continue in Marvel’s vein of excellent superhero films.

Scott Derrickson will be directing Doctor Strange, with Jon Spaihts penning the script. The film’s release date has been set for November 4, 2016.
