Casting announcement after casting announcement for the Divergent movie over the past few weeks, there’s been one glaring omission: Who would play Uriah?

Now we’re learning he won’t be cast for the film.

Our friends at the Divergent Examiner learned through a source that the character of Uriah will not appear in the Divergent movie, and instead he will appear in the second film Insurgent (if the film is green-lit by the studio).

The same source says that the reason for moving his introduction to the second film is “so as to more properly introduce and represent the character on-screen.”

In February, Romeo Miller tweeted that he auditioned for a role in Divergent, and we speculated that he could’ve been going in for the role of Uriah. If our guess is true, that means producers had decided to cut out the role in recent months.

Divergent is the book-to-film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s book of the same name. The first book is part of a trilogy. The second book is titled Insurgent and was released last year. Earlier this week we learned the title of Divergent book three: Allegiant.

Divergent will open in theaters March 21, 2014. Summit-Lionsgate is positioning the film to be its next The Hunger Games franchise.

What do you think of Uriah being cut from Divergent?
