A new report on Divergent from the Los Angeles Times includes new interview quotes and – more excitingly – new stills.

The article appears to be for those who are unaware of Divergent because much of the piece is an overview.

Speaking about Shailene Woodley’s stunt work on the Chicago set of Divergent, producer Lucy Fisher says, “She really is very, very self-sufficient and is her own kind of warrior in terms of she wanted to do her stunts herself. She has a huge amount of inner strength. … She’s very mature beyond her age, as is Tris.”

The report also includes new comments from Woodley, who speaks about the unique attraction of Tris and why she wanted the role. “It’s not just about young people figuring their way through life. It’s about young people being in really adult situations, and they’re treated like adults, which is how adolescents are these days. Everybody’s incredibly smart, and there’s not a lot of movies that do that age range justice.”

The three new Divergent photos depict a tender moment between Tris and Four (Theo James), Tris in the simulation, and a nice shot of Tris looking out of a train.

Director Neil Burger was interviewed for the piece and compares Tris and the overall story to James Dean’s Jim Stark in Rebel Without a Cause. “He just doesn’t feel at home. So he goes looking for something more.”

Divergent hits theaters on March 21, 2014. The film’s sequel, Insurgent, is already in the works (and due out March 2015). Producer Douglas Wick says that the decision to proceed with a sequel this quickly is a sign of their confidence in the story’s wide appeal.

Thanks, Hero Complex.
