A new interview with Shailene Woodley from last month’s San Diego Comic-Con has surfaced and in it, the actress reveals that Four has been made six years older in the film adaption of Divergent.

Woodley says that the decision was made because of actor Theo James’ older age. In Veronica Roth’s Divergent, Four is 18 years old when he meets 16-year-old Tris.

“Theo James who plays the love interest in my film is 28, in the book his character is 18, but in the movie we’re making him about 24/25. He’s kind of ageless in a way. And even though in the book Tris is about 16, we never allude to the fact that she’s that young.”

It’s not clear whether or not Four’s age will ever be specifically referenced, or if filmmakers were just using the older age behind the scenes to plan the story. Woodley makes it clear that the age gap between the two characters will not be shared in the storyline.

One of the larger complaints about James as Four has been his age. The actor is ten years older than the character he portrays in Roth’s book, and fans had been imagining a younger person for the role while reading. No decision on how good his casting was can be made until we see some footage from the film for ourselves.

Woodley was also asked to comment on comparisons to fellow dystopian series The Hunger Games. “People constantly compare us to The Hunger Games and I think that’s awesome. Hunger Games frickin kicked ass an Jenn Lawrence is amazing, and I think it’s a big compliment to our project.”

Elsewhere in her Comic-Con chat with Access Hollywood, the interviewer creepily and non-specifically compliments her on one of many photo shoots Woodley has done.

Divergent opens in theaters March 21, 2014.
