The Hunger Games actor Alexander Ludwig may be in contention for the role of Four in Divergent, if a tweet he deleted is any indication.

“Screen testing for Divergent today,” the tweet simply read when it was sent out this afternoon. The tweet was deleted a short time later.

UPDATE: Ludwig has confirmed via Twitter that he will not play Four, saying it’s too close to The Hunger Games.

Though he did not say what role it is for, one obvious guess is Four. The role has still not been cast by producers even though it’s scheduled to begin filming in Chicago next month.

The search for the actor to play Four has been a long one. Since October (and maybe longer) the studio has been screen testing actors including Lucas Till, Jeremy Irvine, Alex Pettyfer, Luke Bracey, Brenton Thwaites, and Jack Reynor.

Ludwig has been interested in the role of Four since October when he had said he had meetings about the idea. The fact that they’re revisiting him means they could still be far from narrowing in on a choice.

Then again, Ludwig could be screen testing for a different role entirely. Shailene Woodley (who’ll play Tris) and Kate Winslet are the only two actresses confirmed so far.

Woodley herself has been involved in the Four auditioning process because they need to find someone who works with her on screen. Earlier this year she commented on the search: “You cannot walk in that room in pretty little boots and pretend you’re a man. I’m sorry. You need to walk in there, and you need to not have muscles that look good and not actually work. There have been a few guys that have this power about them. It’s a natural masculine power that some people have and some people don’t.”

Ludwig played Cato in The Hunger Games movie. We reached out to his agent who has not yet returned a request for comment.

Thanks, Fangirlish.
