Two potentially big stories involving book-to-film adaptations Divergent and The Hunger Games have surfaced.

First, on an investor call late last week, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer was asked whether the recent release of Veronica Roth’s Four: A Divergent Collection was an example of an opportunity to “do other films that haven’t been announced yet.”

“I think as I’ve said before, we certainly hope so,” Feltheimer replied (via SeekingAlpha.com). He made no other remarks on the topic.

Adapting Four: A Divergent Collection for film wouldn’t surprise us because it’s another book from the original author. It would be a move similar to what WB is doing with J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts.

If a plan to adapt Four is definitely in the works, the studio may be waiting to see how the next three Divergent films perform at the box office before announcing its development.

One issue, however, is Theo James. Four takes place prior to the events of Divergent, so the 29-year-old James would have to play a much younger version of the character after the 2017 opening of Allegiant, Part 2. Perhaps they’ll re-cast the role using one of the actors who were originally in consideration for the part, or just use James anyway because why the heck not?

On the same conference call we learned that – unsurprisingly – Lionsgate is planning to unveil the “first trailer” for Insurgent with Mockingjay, Part 1 this November.

In other YA news, rumors are flying around the internet today stating a new trailer for Mockingjay, Part 1 will arrive this Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards. You can count us skeptical for now since the last trailer debuted just three weeks ago. On the other hand, it wouldn’t be the first time that a Hunger Games trailer dropped at the VMAs.

The same rumor says that an announcement will be made tomorrow, August 19, and the trailer is 2 1/2 minutes long. If true, that’s double the size of the July 28 trailer (which left some fans disappointed).
