A third clip from Divergent has been released and offers our first time seeing Eric speak.

The Dauntless baddie played by Jai Courtney speaks to a crowd of initiates including Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Christina (Zoë Kravitz), and breaks the news to them that they may not make it all the way through training. “At the end of each stage of training, the lowest ranking initiates will be leaving us.” And where do they go? “There’s no going home to your families, so you’d live faction-less.” Naturally, the initiates are shocked to hear this. After this clip, we’d love to see shots of what the faction-less look like.

As noted by one YouTube commenter, this little scene is very loyal to the source material penned by author Veronica Roth. Al and Will get brief lines in this scene as well. They’re played by Christian Madsen and Ben Lloyd-Hughes respectively.

Update: As noted by Hypable readers, Eric mentions that failing and living faction-less is a “new rule,” which isn’t mentioned in the book.

One thing we’re consistently noticing in all of these previews? Great acting from the entire cast.

Lots of promotional material has surfaced from the film over the past few weeks. Be sure to check out a clip of Tris breaking free of the simulation, Roth’s review of the film, and Ellie Goulding’s song for the soundtrack titled “Beating Heart.”

Divergent opens in theaters March 21, 2014. Hypable will be attending a screening of the film later today in Chicago where Woodley, Roth, Theo James, and Ansel Elgort will all be in attendance. We’ll have a report up from our time with the stars later this week!
