Amazon has revealed that the final book in Veronica Roth’s Divergent trilogy, Allegiant, is so far surpassing sales of The Hunger Games book three, Mockingjay.

In an e-mail to Hypable, the online retailer confirms that Allegiant is outselling Mockingjay nearly five to one. Amazon is using the sales numbers from one month prior to the latter book’s release to get an accurate comparison.

The statistic is interesting because Divergent and The Hunger Games have fielded comparisons to one another (for better or for worse) over the past few months as the studio adapting both of them, Summit, seeks another runaway hit. Though they are both dystopians, the comparisons can largely end there.

Many have wondered if Divergent can be the next big series (despite the fact that the books are about to end), and this may be one of the most reassuring signs yet. It will now become Summit’s job to pull off a successful movie franchise that can appease readers and bring in a wider audience.

Allegiant will hit store shelves on October 22 and has been sitting high on the Amazon Best Sellers list for weeks. Its position, #7 at the time of this writing, will only continue to climb higher over the next two weeks.

Roth announced in July that the book will be from the perspectives of both Tris and Four. The movie adaptation of the first book will open March 21, 2014.
