The first teaser trailer for the Disney Channel’s upcoming Freaky Friday musical adaptation has been released.

If you’ve been itching for a glimpse at Disney’s latest Freaky Friday adaptation, you’re in luck. A brief teaser, which first aired with the Disney Channel Original Movie Zombies, introduces the body swap shenanigans along with a Summer 2018 release date.

This particular iteration of Freaky Friday will be based on Disney Theatrical Productions’ stage adaptation of the Mary Rodgers novel. Heidi Blickenstaff will reprise her role as Katherine from the stage show, while Cozi Zuehlsdorff will star as Katherine’s daughter, Ellie.

“A classic story like Freaky Friday has a magical capacity to engage multiple generations – whether it’s in the form of a book, a theatrical film, a stage show – or all of the above!” said Gary Marsh, the president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide. “Working with our partners at Disney Live Theatrical, we’re thrilled to bring this classic story to life in a whole new form – a music-driven movie for television – that will be enjoyed by tens of millions of kids and families around the world.”

Rounding out the main and supporting cast are Ricky He as Ellie’s friend, Adam, Alex Désert as Katherine’s fiancé, Mike, Jason Maybaum as Ellie’s younger brother, Fletcher, and Kahyun Kim as Torrey, Katherine’s high-strung business associate.

Steve Carr (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Daddy Daycare) will serve as both director and executive producer, with a teleplay by Bridget Carpenter (11.22.63, Friday Night Lights). David Lawrence (Descendants and High School Musical) will compose the score. Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, who provided both music and lyrics for the stage version, are also signed on to the project.

The musical adaptation will follow in the footsteps of the popular 1976 Disney film starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, as well as the 1995 version, led by Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman, and the feature film helmed by Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.
