Disney’s new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge parks might not be opening in Disneyland and Disney World until 2019, but drone flyover footage has given us a taste of what’s to come.
In the newest attraction at Disneyland and Disney World, we will be able to travel to the far-off planet of Batuu. Once a bustling crossroads before you enter Wild Space, Batuu has become more of a remote outpost. It’s a planet we’ve never visited in the films before, and come 2019, Star Wars fans will be able to live, eat, and play on this planet in a galaxy far, far away.

Of course, since we’ve never been to Batuu before, many of us don’t know what to expect from the new Disney resort outside of a few pieces of concept art that have floated around the internet. Thankfully, Disney just released footage of a flyover of the Galaxy’s Edge park in Anaheim, California to give us a small taste of what to expect from Batuu.
Deadline first tipped us off to this footage, and we’re pretty blown away by it. Obviously, most everything is still under heavy construction, so we still have to use our imaginations when picturing the finished product. However, this video does show us just how sprawling this park will be.
As we’ve previously reported, Galaxy’s Edge is meant to be a totally immersive experience. Even the hotels are meant to feel like a spaceship (even providing guests with a galaxy view when they peek out of their windows), and the entire Galaxy’s Edge park will feel like you’ve left our planet and somehow found yourself on Batuu. You can take part in a secret mission that allows you to helm the Millenium Falcon, or you can find yourself in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
This park will be a Star Wars experience unlike any we’ve ever seen before. The park may be unfinished, but this drone flyover footage has given us a taste at just how big Disney is dreaming when it comes to Galaxy’s Edge. We can’t wait to experience it for ourselves firsthand when it opens in 2019.
