The Walt Disney Company has officially revealed that their new streaming service will be called Disney+.

Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger was on hand to unveil the official name for the company’s upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service during a live audio webcast where Disney revealed its fiscal full year and fourth quarter 2018 financial results.

Over the past few months, Disney has teased quite an impressive slate for its new streaming service, which includes a handful of original movies and television series.

Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated is Jon Favreau’s upcoming live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, which according to Iger, isn’t the only live-action Star Wars series in development at Disney+.

In addition to revealing the title for the streaming service, Iger also revealed that LucasFilm is currently developing a live-action Star Wars series focused on Rogue One character Cassian Andor.

Star Diego Luna will be returning to reprise his role as the rebel spy for the new series. According to a press release, the new series “will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”

In addition to announcing that a series centered on Cassian Andor is in the works, Iger also confirmed that Marvel Studios is in fact developing a series for Disney+ based on Loki.

The series, which we first heard word about just a few months ago, will find Tom Hiddleston returning to reprise his role as the god of mischief.

One thing the announcement didn’t include was an exact proposed launch date. That being said, Iger did reveal that the company plans to launch Disney+ in the United States sometime in late 2019.

For now, fans interested in staying in the loop can visit DisneyPlus.com now to register their email and stay up to date on further announcements.
