Disney has halted development on its planned live-action Snow White film The Order of Seven due to budget concerns.

The movie had been in development for over a decade, and was considered to be a sure-fire hit after the runaway success of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. In fact, just last week Iron Man writer Hawk Otsby was hired to polish off the script so that the project could begin shooting this year with actress Saoirse Ronan and would-be début director Michael Gracey.

However, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the project has ceased all development. The box office slump of John Carter is expected to be the cause of the cancellation, with the company now being forced to reconsider its expenditure.

Seven would have been the third in a string of live-action adaptations, after Mirror Mirror and the upcoming Snow White and The Huntsmen.

Are you disappointed that the movie has been cancelled?
