Stargirl is getting a sequel over at Disney+ and the movie has already found its newest cast member in Judy Greer.

According to Deadline, actress Judy Greer has officially signed on to star in the upcoming Stargirl sequel at Disney+.

Greer is the first newcomer to join the cast of the sequel, which will find Grace VanderWaal returning to reprise her role as the titular character. In addition to starring in the movie, VanderWaal will also write and perform original music for the sequel.

Based on author Jerry Spinelli’s best selling children’s book of the same name, the 2020 Disney+ adaptation tells the story of an unassuming high school boy who suddenly finds himself drawn to a free-spirited new girl. Stargirl’s eclectic ways may seem strange to most at first, but over the course of the film, her unconventional ways end up changing how everyone around her sees themselves and each other.

In the sequel, fans will get to follow along as Stargirl ventures out of Mica and heads for the big city.

As for Judy Greer, she’ll be taking on the role of Ana, who is rumored to be the titular character’s mother, whom she moves to Los Angeles with.

Also on board to star in the sequel is Elijah Richardson who will play the role of Evan, Stargirl’s new neighbor and romantic interest.

Others returning for the sequel include Julia Hart and husband Jordan Horowitz. As with the initial adaptation, Hart will serve as director, in addition to co-writing the script with Horowitz.

Currently, thee’s no word on when we can expect to see the Stargirl sequel debut via Disney+.
