Disney+ is really leaning into its strategy of remaking beloved classics, announcing its plans to remake Home Alone and other titles.

Disney has made quite a lot of money remaking their beloved cartoon classics into live-action flicks, and it seems this strategy is carrying over into their new streamer, Disney+. It was announced that Disney+ will be remaking classic movies like Home Alone, Cheaper By the Dozen (a movie that originally released in 1950 and was remade starring Steve Martin in 2003), Night at the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and more, potentially.

As Deadline reports, Bob Iger made the remake announcements at the Disney company call on Tuesday. He said the plan for Disney+ was to eventually remake franchises newly acquired by Disney with the entertainment behemoth’s acquisition of Fox’s movie library.

Disney+, which recently announced an amazing bundle with Hulu and ESPN, launches this November, but there isn’t a clear timeline for when these remakes are set to happen. Additionally, it hasn’t been made clear how Disney+ will remake these classics–a new movie, animation, or maybe a series.

As Deadline reports, Iger also said of their newly acquire Fox titles that they are:

“redefining” the Fox film efforts to ensure the “same standards and the same creative discipline” are in place. He said Disney is taking Fox in “a whole new direction,” with an “all-new development slate” of titles for theatrical release as well as Hulu and Disney+. “We see great long-term value in the broad collection of theatrical IP we acquired from Fox.

By remaking these films that have been well-loved for some time, like Home Alone, Disney is certainly working hard to mold these Fox properties into products that are wholly Disney. And while one can’t help but be excited about what is coming to Disney+ (despite what Disney’s monopoly might be doing to the entertainment industry as a whole), it is a little sad to see more remakes of beloved films in our future. Namely, the Home Alone remake.

As many online have speculated, the entire plight of Kevin McCallister in Home Alone is pretty buckwild and is one of those stories that was already pretty far from plausible. However, with the advent of technology like cell phones and apps like “Find My Friends,” this story could be a bit too outrageous.

Of course, we’ll have to wait and see what Disney+ has planned for these titles. Until then, we’ll be watching the original Home Alone on repeat.
