Gilmore Girls vet Lauren Graham is gearing up to hit the ice as part of Disney+’s upcoming The Mighty Ducks series!

In a press release sent out on Wednesday (February 12), Disney+ announced their The Mighty Ducks series has officially found its star in none other than Lauren Graham.

Graham isn’t the only one who’s recently boarded the project. In addition, the streamer also revealed that Boardwalk Empire alum Brady Noon has also officially joined the series.

Together, Graham and Noon will play mother and son on the series, which is based off of the hit 90s film franchise of the same name.

Per the series’ official synopsis, the Disney+ Mighty Ducks series will be set in present day Minnesota where the Ducks have evolved from the scrappy underdogs we met in the ’90s family feature films to an ultra competitive powerhouse youth hockey team. (Sounds a lot like they’ve evolved from Ducks into Hawks if you ask us— what would Hans say?!)

When Evan (Noon) finds himself cut from the team, he and his mom, Alex (Graham) decide to form their own team of misfits with the intention of challenging the cutthroat win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports.

Given the synopsis information for the series, it definitely sounds as though Graham will be taking on a Gordon Bombay like role for the ragtag team she and her 12-year-old son will be putting together to go up against their new rivals on the ice.

Production on the 10-episode first season is set to begin this month out in Vancouver, and fans can expect to see Disney+’s The Mighty Ducks series premiere via the streaming service later this year.
