Black Beauty is getting an update over at Disney+ and now, fans of the timeless tale can check out the first trailer for the newest adaptation.

Disney+ is gearing up to reintroduce Black Beauty to generations young and old with a brand new adaptation of the beloved children’s classic by Anna Sewell.

Billed as a contemporary reimagining of the story may of us grew up with, the studio’s new take on the story follows the titular ebony mustang, who was once a wild horse born free in the American West but later finds herself rounded up and taken away from her family.

After being captured, Beauty finds herself brought to Birtwick Stables where she meets a spirited teenage girl named Jo Green, who’s going through some troubles of her own and happens to live at the stables with her uncle.

It’s not long before Jo and Beauty find themselves connecting over their shared sorrow of losing their respective families, forging an unbreakable bond that carries over through the different chapters, challenges, and adventures of Beauty’s life.

The film finds Academy Award winner Kate Winslet lending her voice to Beauty. Meanwhile, Twilight vet Mackenzie Foy plays Jo. Others who star in the forthcoming adaptation include Iain Glen, Claire Forlani, and Calam Lynch.

Behind the camera, the all new reimagined contemporary take on the classic story was written and directed by Adolescence helmer Ashely Avis.

Black Beauty debuts via Disney+ just in time for Thanksgiving weekend on Friday, November 27.
