In August 2011 we learned that Pixar was working on an untitled movie that takes place inside someone’s mind. The project is being helmed by Pete Doctor (who wrote Up and Wall-E).

Nearly a year and a half later, Pixar is very close to announcing a name.

Bleeding Cool has learned from a source that the studio’s 2014 film is close to settling on the name The Inside Out. Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter recently described the story as the following: “The emotions of this little girl are the characters and it takes place in the head of this little girl, and shows how they control things that go on.”

Pixar reportedly likes the name, but before making the announcement is ensuring they won’t run into any copyright issues. Stefano Bethlen, Disney’s head of distribution in Italy, recently used the title while speaking at an event, which further lends credence to Pixar’s final choice.

The story sounds like it could be one of Pixar’s most original yet, so we’re eager to learn more about it as soon as possible. Their release line up is as follows:

Monsters University: June 2013
The Good Dinosaur: May 2014
The Inside Out: June 2015
Dia de los Muertos: November 2015
Finding Nemo 2: 2016

Monster, Inc‘s prequel is the next film Pixar will release. Their most recently released film is Brave, which was met with mixed reviews due to it’s very simple and predictable plot.
