The Disney Channel Original Movie The Descendants – following the offspring of the Disney Villains – has Belle and Beast’s son.

Mitchell Hope will portray the offspring of Belle and the Beast named Ben. The two parents are the King and Queen.

“In a present day idyllic kingdom, the benevolent teen-aged son of the King and Queen is poised to take the throne,” says Disney’s synopsis of the movie. “His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar, who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters.”

Said Judy Taylor, senior VP of casting and talent, “We were intrigued by Mitchell’s natural acting style, boyish charm and winning personality and when we brought him to Los Angeles to read opposite Dove [Cameron], it was apparent that he embodied the inherent good nature of ‘Ben’ and the sense of fairness that the character represents.”

Hope is an Australian actor and The Descendants will be his first project in the United States.

Cameron was cast earlier this month as Maleficent’s daughter Mal. The film will be directed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) and is scheduled for a release in 2015.
