Disney used the digital release of Frozen on Tuesday to also launch a new website and app where you can store digital versions of your Disney movies.

The studio is the only major one left who hasn’t signed on to UltraViolet, the service that lets you receive digital copies of the Blu-rays you purchase. It looks like Disney has held out in order to launch a service of their own.

Disney Movies Anywhere connects with your iTunes account to automatically transfer purchases you’ve already made. To add new movies, you can use the code found within your DVD/Blu-ray case. Prior to today, this code could be used in iTunes.

For a limited time, by connecting your iTunes account to Disney Movies Anywhere you’ll receive a free copy of Pixar’s The Incredibles.

Hypable set up the service this morning and found it to be an easy, pleasant experience. We were able to bring over our three Disney movies purchased in over the years seamlessly.

On the service’s website you can purchase movies (via iTunes) or use Movie Rewards points you’ve earned instead of money.

A Disney Movies Anywhere app for iOS devices, which also launched today, lets you easily access your library of films.

“Disney Movies Anywhere offers an exceptional consumer experience built around some of the most beloved and popular entertainment brands in the world,” said Alan Bergman, President of The Walt Disney Studios in a press release. “This unique technology underscores Disney’s commitment to meeting our consumers where they are with the content they want, and we’re thrilled to debut with iTunes, the #1 digital media retailer in the world.”

Those who’ve enjoyed using the UltraViolet service may not like today’s announcement from Disney because they will have to keep their major movie collections in two separate libraries.
