Disney has found its Snow White in none other than Rachel Zegler.

According to Deadline, Rachel Zegler, the upcoming star of Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, has officially been tapped to play Snow White in Disney’s upcoming remake of its classic animated hit.

Shortly after news broke, Zegler took to Twitter to share a fun throwback of herself at one of the Disney theme parks with the princess in question.

“Homegirl we have LOTS to catch up on,” tweeted the actress.

Behind the camera, 500 Days of Summer vet Marc Webb has been tasked with directing the upcoming movie musical.

In a statement announcing today’s big casting news, Webb pointed to Rachel Zegler’s impressive pipes as just one of the many reasons why the rising star is the perfect person for the role.

“Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale,” said the director.

Others involved on the project behind the scenes include Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman) who will contribute new original music for the movie musical. In addition, the liv-action adaptation is also set to feature classic Snow White songs such as “Someday My Prince Will Come,” “Heigh-Ho,” and “Whistle While You Work.”

Production on Disney’s live-action Snow White starring Rachel Zegler is set to kick off sometime next year.
