Make way for some new Aladdin songs set to be featured in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the animated classic.

If there’s one thing that we learned from watching the first teaser for Aladdin, it’s that the live-action adaptation helmed by Guy Ritchie is taking tons of its cues from the original animated film.

One very significant thing the upcoming adaptation is adding however, is some new music.

In a recent interview with Variety at this year’s GQ Men of the Year party, actor Mena Massoud revealed that the Ritchie-helmed film will feature new original music penned by Hollywood heavyweights.

But don’t worry, Aladdin fans! While teasing what we can expect, Massoud (who plays Aladdin himself) made sure to add that all our old favorites have also been included.

“We’ve got all the original music in there, plus a couple of new songs,” Massoud told Variety. “They’re really empowering. I gotta say one is very empowering for women, I think people are going to really, really dig it. The other one is awesome as well. We got the same guys who did La La Land and The Greatest Showman, we’re in good hand.”

One thing to note is that Massoud’s comments about new music did not make reference to Alan Menken.

The famed composer worked with Howard Ashman and Tim Rice on the soundtrack for the ’90s animated classic.

Last we heard, Menken was involved with Aladdin behind the scenes, so we’re hoping he also had some kind of hand in bringing the new music to life.
