Disney’s Lady and the Tramp is gearing up to follow in the footsteps of The Jungle Book and The Lion King.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney’s Lady and the Tramp is officially getting a live action treatment, and the studio has already tapped a director to bring the animated classic to life.

Disney has tapped director Charlie Bean to helm the upcoming adaptation, which is set to be a hybrid of live action and CG.

Bean is no stranger to bringing family films to the big screen and recently served as director for The Lego Ninjago Movie.

He’ll be teaming up with Brigham Taylor, who previously worked on Disney’s live-action The Jungle Book. Taylor is set to serve as producer on the project which currently has no release date.

Unlike Disney’s other live-action entities, fans who’ll be looking forward to checking out the live-action Lady and the Tramp won’t be able to head to theaters to do so.

Instead, Disney is planning to release the upcoming adaptation on their upcoming digital streaming service, which is gearing up to launch sometime in 2019.

As Disney fans are well aware, the live-action Lady in the Tramp is just the latest animated classic the studio is looking to remake.

In addition to previously released live-action titles such as Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and The Jungle Book, Disney has a long list of live-action titles set to be released over the course of the next few years.

Other live-action Disney flicks set to hit the big screen soon include The Lion King (July 19, 2019), Christopher Robin (August 3, 2018), Dumbo (March 29, 2019), Aladdin (May 24, 2019), and Mulan (2020).
