No matter how much Rick Riordan’s fans beg him to write more books based in mythology, he’s only one man. That’s where Rick Riordan Presents comes in.

Riordan is known the world over for his series that delve into Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and now Norse mythology. Every day he fields questions on Twitter from fans who want him to tackle other stories from legend, and every day he has to tell them he doesn’t have enough time in the day!

But both Riordan and Disney-Hyperion have listened to these requests and have offered fans the next best thing.

According to Publisher’s Weekly, the imprint is “devoted to mythology-based books for middle grade readers.”

The books will be curated by Riordan himself. Stephanie Owens Lurie, Riordan’s editor, adds, “I know [Rick] feels that, in some instances, the books his readers are asking for him to write are really someone else’s story to tell.”

This is a great way to help fans of his work find other authors who write the stories they want to read.

The imprint will focus on middle grade novels and promises “diverse, mythology-based fiction by new, emerging, and under-represented authors.”

Riordan was also insistent that the imprint “was not a brand extension for his own work but a platform for Riordan to bring other great writers to the attention of his vast and loyal audience.”

Two books will launch in 2018 under this new imprint. Several authors have already been approached for prospective projects, and submissions will be accepted via literary agents from those whose stories fall within the requirements.

Riordan will review manuscripts, provide notes, and endorse Rick Riordan Presents authors via social media and in person.

This might not be what fans were hoping for when they begged him to write more stories, but it’s still a great way for us to get more of what we love!
