Disney is bringing Frozen to life with a stage musical, which we can expect within the next two years.

Unsurprisingly, Disney is not shy on ways to expand the hugely successful Frozen franchise.

Anna and Elsa are two of the most popular animated Disney characters ever, and children of all ages continue to sing “Let it Go” at every available opportunity. (Oops, did we just get the song stuck in your head again? Sorry!)

Aside from the obvious Frozen 2, Disney is also bringing the story to the stage, adapting the first movie for Broadway.

The Frozen musical is written by original writer Jennifer Lee, with original songwriters (and Oscar winners) Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez adapting the music and writing new songs.

Unfortunately though, Broadway legend Idina Menzel (who voiced Elsa) will not be involved with the Frozen musical.

Den of Geek has dug up a new piece of information about this production: allegedly, we’ll see this musical hit the theaters by 2017.

The news comes from The Mail writer Baz Bamingboye, and is apparently pretty sound.

2017 still sounds like a long time away, though. We don’t doubt that Frozen will still be popular in two years, but surely Disney will want to press ahead with this musical?

“By 2017” indicates we’ll see it in the latter half of 2016 though, so we don’t have that long to wait.
