In light of the recent trailer for Finding Nemo 3D I figured it necessary to make this post. I feel like Disney is taking a lot of backlash for something that they really shouldn’t. Let me explain.

I want you to think about your favorite Disney movie right now. Picture it, in all its fantastic glory. The first time you probably saw it was on VHS. Low quality, but that didn’t make it any less magical. Now think of that same Disney movie on DVD. How much brighter the colors were and how much more alive it felt to watch. It brought back memories and because, for me at least, it wasn’t too far after VHS you could still enjoy them. Hell, I personally will probably always love watching Disney, but that’s beside the point.

Now think of it now. That favorite Disney movie you love. Maybe you have kids or nieces or nephews, whatever. And ya, you can show them the VHS or the DVD. But we remember seeing them in theaters. Tarzan, The Lion King, all those lovely films. Disney putting those classics back out in 3D is not only a good move on their part, they do honestly make a lot, but it also brings a lot of that magic back. And in 3D! I’ve never been much on the 3D bandwagon for most movies. But I saw The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast in 3D and I was astounded at the depth and life it brought into the films.

Finding Nemo is also simply one of those movies that would look stunning in 3D. All those amazing underwater scenes, frankly I’m surprised they haven’t done The Little Mermaid yet (though I’m sure it’s soon to come). And it’s not like Disney is doing a piss-poor job of re-making them either. They put a lot of time and effort into the work and that really shines through.

Disney may do a lot of things, but it never stops thinking about how to make people’s days as magical as possible. If you or your loved ones wanted to remember and share a great movie, I can think of no better way than a Disney one in 3D.

Now go watch a movie! :)

And, for the record, my favorite is Hercules.
