A few more tidbits of news have come down about production on Game of Thrones season 5, including episode directors, and an intriguing location in Spain.

The 10 episodes of Game of Thrones season 5 will be directed by five directors, Entertainment Weekly reports. The list is comprised of mostly new faces to the Game of Thrones scene, and includes only one director with experience on HBO’s epic fantasy drama.

The first two episodes of Game of Thrones season 5 will be directed by Michael Slovis, who has previously worked on Breaking Bad and other shows. Mark Mylod (Entourage) will helm episodes 3 and 4, while Jeremy Podeswa (director of several episodes of Boardwalk Empire) will take on 5 and 6. Episodes 7 and 8 will be directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who has worked frequently with Fox.

The final two episodes of the season will be be directed by the returning David Nutter. Nutter has previously directed four other episodes of Game of Thrones, including the watershed episode, “The Rains of Castamere” – otherwise known as “The Red Wedding.”

So those two episodes should be a laugh and a half, basically.

Notable, no directors from season 4 will return for Game of Thrones season 5. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who have each directed an episode of the show in previous seasons, are also taking a break for this year.

In other news, Winter Is Coming shares the news that part of Game of Thrones season 5 will be filmed in Seville and Orsuna, Spain. Beginning in October, filming will take place at the Mudéjar Palace at Real Alcázar in Seville.

In addition to an interior set, the palace pond will serve as the famed Dornish Water Gardens. To enhance the already majestic setting, the pond’s water will be dyed a deep – but temporary – blue color. Osuna, meanwhile, is rumored to be the setting of a “great battle”… because Game of Thrones has really been slacking in the battle department lately.

Game of Thrones season 5 will return to HBO in Spring 2015.
