Showtime’s upcoming Dexter revival has cast Clancy Brown in a significant role.

According to Variety, actor Clancy Brown is the latest actor to join the cast of Showtime’s upcoming Dexter revival.

The forthcoming revival was first announced back in October 2020 when the continuation was handed a 10 episode series order.

Series star Michael C. Hall (who played the titular character through the show’s initial series run from 2006 to 2013) is already on board to return to reprise his role as the titular serial killer.

As for Brown, the Billions vet is set to take on the role of the revival’s central villain, Kurt Caldwell.

Caldwell resides in Iron Lake, where he’s considered to be the unofficial mayor of the small town, who also happens to own several big rig trucks as well as the local truck stop in town. Though he’s considered to be both beloved, and generous— it seems as though his generosity only stretches so far.

“If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed,” reads the official character synopsis for Kurt Caldwell. “But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.”

We’re sure fans who just can’t wait to see Dexter back in action will be looking forward to seeing what happens when the serial killer crosses paths with the unofficial small town mayor.

Other today’s information with regards to Brown’s role, details with regards to the plot of the revival are fairly scarce.

Original showrunner Clyde Phillips is once again on board to steer the ship.

In a statement announcing the series’ return, Showtime’s co-president of entertainment, Gary Levin teased that Phillips has come up with a great way to bring fans back into the world.

“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many hears ago,” said Levine in a statement announcing the revival.

“We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”

Showtime’s Dexter revival is slated to debut in Fall 2021.
