Episode titles and intriguing synopses have been released for the final three episodes of Game of Thrones season 4.

Though it seems like just yesterday that Tywin was melting down Ice in the first scene of the season, Game of Thrones season 4 is nearing its final episodes. After taking a week off for Memorial Day weekend, the last three installments of the gripping season will air in June.

The titles and synopses for the episodes make it perfectly clear that the epic fantasy series has no plans to ebb in epicness any time soon.

Episode 8, airing June 1, is titled “The Mountain and the Viper.” The synopsis reads:

Mole’s Town receives unexpected visitors. Littlefinger’s motives are questioned. Ramsay attempts to prove himself to his father. Tyrion’s fate is decided.

In the previous three seasons of Game of Thrones, episode 9 has typically hosted the game-changing event of the season. Given that season 4 has already included several major deaths and battles, the ninth installment – titled “The Watchers on the Wall” – seems guaranteed to leave our jaws on the floor.

The synopsis, however, is succinct in response to expectations.

Jon Snow and the rest of the Night’s Watch face the biggest challenge to the Wall yet.

Specificity is totally overrated.

The season finale of Game of Thrones season 4 will be titled “The Children.” Thankfully the final synopsis offers us a little bit more information, hinting that the truth will be revealed to several crucial characters.

An unexpected arrival north of the Wall changes circumstances. Dany is forced to face harsh realities. Bran learns more of his destiny. Tyrion sees the truth of his situation.

This definitely doesn’t sound like the stuff of a crazy cliffhanger, right? …Right?

Game of Thrones season 4, episode 8, “The Mountain and the Viper,” will air at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 on HBO.
