John Simm, who last played The Master during David Tennant’s run on Doctor Who, is not making an imminent return to the show. He took to Twitter to clarify misinformation posted on the IMDB.

Simm Tweeted the following:

The IMDB, now corrected, was listing Simm as making a reappearance. What many readers may not realize, is that although the IMBD is an invaluable entertainment resource, and often more reliable than not, the material can be edited in a fashion similar to Wikipedia. The downside to this system is that misinformation can be easily posted.

Also of note is that Simm is merely referring to the ongoing filming of the current season. There is no casting information, or for that matter, much information of any kind available concerning the 50th anniversary celebration. Many actors, including Simm, who have previously appeared on the show have expressed a desire to appear in some capacity during the 50th anniversary celebration.

Earlier this year, readers may remember that Benedict Cumberbatch was speculated to be taking over as The Master. These rumors were debunked by both Matt Smith and Steven Moffat.

Are you disappointed that the rumors are unfounded? Would you like to see John Simm make a reappearance in the 50th anniversary special?
