Get ready for your first taste of Designated Survivor season 3.

Designated Survivor fans breathed a huge sigh of relief last fall when Netflix swooped up and saved the action-packed political drama after ABC pulled the plug on the series after just two seasons.

Now, fans can catch their first glimpse of what’s in store for President Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) in the series’ upcoming third season.

As we’ve known for quite some time, the forthcoming season will find President Kirkman facing the daunting task of trying to get reelected for a second term.

Unfortunately for Kirkman, he’s dealing with more than just the normal turmoil that comes with running for a second term as President of the United States.

For starters, Vice President Candidate Aaron Shore may have a criminal past he failed to mention when he signed on to serve as Kirkman’s running mate.

Then there’s the potential threat of a bio-terrorist attack looming like a dark cloud over his presidency.

In addition to all the drama, we’re also treated to our first look at some of the other main players this coming season.

So what else can you expect from season 3? As we learned back in September, the new season is set to explore what it takes to make a leader, and how far Kirkman is willing to go to secure his title.

You can also expect the show to pull some of its inspiration from what’s been happening recently in the world of politics.

“This season will explore today’s world of campaigning, smear tactics, debates, campaign finance, and ‘fake news,’” promises the official season synopsis. “Democracy, as we know it, will hang in the balance.”

The 10-episode third season is set to hit Netflix on Friday, June 7.
