Daniel Craig reprises his role as James Bond for the next installment, but rumored director Denis Villeneuve will not be at the helm.

Since learning that Bond 25 would be another Daniel Craig vehicle, we’ve been eagerly anticipating the news of which director would get to put her (or his) spin on it.

Blade Runner 2049‘s Denis Villeneuve has previously been rumored as a frontrunner for the job, but in a new interview with The Playlist (via Den of Geek) he confessed to being too busy with Dune to take it on at present:

“The thing is I don’t know about that. But listen. Daniel Craig is a very inspiring actor and I had some contact and the thing is that I’m busy right now doing Dune. But, I will say to have the privilege to work with him it would be a dream. I would love to work with Daniel and a Bond movie for me would be a treat. It’s a matter of timing, I guess.”

With Bond 25 set for October 2019, we’ve got to be getting a director announcement soon. Dare we hope for a woman this time around?
