Without a doubt, one of the parts of True Blood season 5 that fans are most looking forward to is Russell Edgington’s return to the show.

Edgington was buried alive a couple seasons ago, and at the end of season 4 we saw he had escaped. Denis O’Hare, who plays the wicked character, says he’ll have refreshing characteristics and even a new boyfriend:

In a strange way, Russell is actually a lot funnier this season. He’s not toothless, but he’s a little more of a comic foil … until he isn’t. And then he becomes very, very vicious again. Which I love.”

The Examiner also reports:

Russell will get to sing (to a 70’s classic), dance, and even hold a puppy. All of this seems like a lot of fun, but you might wonder how Russell can forgive and forget the fact that Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric basically trapped him for all eternity. Well, it seems that whoever got him out is the culprit. “How he got disinterred made him grateful to somebody and that gratitude may inform his new [personality],” O’Hare told the website.

Russell and the rest of the True Blood characters return June 10.
