Singer Demi Lovato is reportedly on her way out of Fox’s The X Factor.

People Magazine cites a source who says she has decided to use 2014 to focus on her music career which means exiting the struggling Fox singing competition executive produced by Simon Cowell.

Lovato made her debut on X Factor season 2 and returned for season 3 which is hosting its season finale this week.

She recently spoke about taking January off. “I want to vacation! I want to watch crime shows on my DVR on my couch … I need to do some exercising and I don’t really have time to do it. I love horseback riding and never get to do that stuff, but January is my time to do all of that.”

The X Factor has had a revolving door of judges during its short life on American television. Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, Britney Spears, Cheryl Cole, and L.A. Reid have all come and gone during the show’s first two seasons. The panel currently consists of Cowell, Lovato, Kelly Rowland, and Paulina Rubio. It is hosted by Mario Lopez.

It’s too early to say who could replace Lovato, but there’s also the question of Rubio and Rowland’s involvement in season 4. Cowell may wish to reboot the judges table again to try a completely different mix of chemistry.

Though ratings haven’t been strong, Cowell recently insisted the show will have a fourth season. He also suggested that the show may switch to a one-day-a-week format so it’s cheaper to produce and can be easier for viewers to tune in for.
