The first half of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows opened in theaters five years ago today. For Harry/Hermione shippers, it was a dream come true.

With Harry, Ron, and Hermione on the road to search for Horcruxes, a slow and isolated pace offered viewers lots of intimate scenes between the three leads.

But no scene was more intimate or honest than when Harry and Hermione danced to Nick Cave’s “O Children.”

This one. The one where Harry and Hermione used some rare private time to have a little fun:

While Harry/Hermione shippers have had to accept that he ended up with Ginny and she ended up with Ron, there was a glimmer of hope last year when J.K. Rowling openly reconsidered Ron/Hermione. “I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment,” she said. “That’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

Rowling may have never explicitly said Harry and Hermione should have wed, but it was nice for Harmony shippers to hear that the author’s decision to put Ron and Hermione together was partly influenced by her earliest plans. In an alternate reality where Rowling didn’t plan Ron/Hermione at the outset, Harmony may’ve come true.

They’re not married, but they’ll be friends forever.

Forever and always.

H/Hr shippers know that Harry and Hermione always had a deeper friendship than either of them did with Ron. This intimate friendship was on display most during the aforementioned dance scene in Deathly Hallows. The scene spoke of the comfort between one another, and the comfort they found in each other.

And if you want to fantasize about what could’ve been, just stare at this moment until the end of time:

Happy anniversary, Harmony believers
