Deadpool is now in theaters, and we’ve got a breakdown of the two post-credits scenes for your convenience!
What did you think about Ryan Reynolds’ masterly performance as the unconquerable Deadpool? After 11 years, the Tim Miller-directed gore-and-gag-fest is now on the big screen, and we can all agree it was a triumph of a comic book movie.
As promised, there were two post-credits scenes at the end of the movie. Or rather: two parts of the same scene.

The first part, basically a mockery of the traditional post-credits scene (and the audience members who stick around to see it), is just hilarious. In the second part, Deadpool comes back out and actually offers some useful information!
Mr. Pool’s Day Off
The first part of the coda features Deadpool in a Ferris Bueller bathrobe. In true Deadpool fashion, he berates the audience for hanging around after the end of the movie — as though Samuel L. Jackson is going to show up in sexy leather or something. Pfft, like they can afford him.
Cut to black.
…And then cut back to the scene because Deadpool has a little nugget of new info after all.
While we know a sequel is already being written, it is by no means confirmed — and Reynolds, in a thinly veiled plea for the audience to lobby for Deadpool 2, comes back out to promise the inclusion of a fan-favorite character: Cable!
Cable is Deadpool’s sometimes-ally, sometimes-enemy. The son Scott Summers and Madelyn Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey), Cable is a member of the X-Men who was sent to the future and came back as an adult.
In the comics, Cable was born in the present Marvel timeline, but travels through different timelines. He was paired with Deadpool and the X-Force team for a long time; Deadpool is also part of X-Force, and as X-Force is currently in development, we wonder if Cable might just end up being a new player in this new movieverse.
The main reason why Cable is so hugely popular (and why you’ll probably hear comics fans cheering in the cinema when Reynolds reveals his inclusion) is because of the Cable and Deadpool comics: This is one of the biggest and most popular series from the comics for both of them. People usually don’t imagine one without the other, so having him in Deadpool 2 is a big win for fans of their dynamic.
In the clip, Reynolds also says that Cable hasn’t been cast yet, and suggests some interesting options (Mel Gibson? Dolph Lundgren? Kiera Knightley?). Any preference?
