Hugh Jackman attempted to make a video offering birthday wishes, but an unceremonious interruption from Deadpool derailed the entire affair.

It’s no secret that Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are buddies and that their friendship has spilled into the cinematic universe of Deadpool. After appearing together in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine where a first attempt was made to bring Wade Wilson and Deadpool to the big screen, the two have had a unique friendship. In fact, several jokes about Jackman himself not only found their way to promotional material for Deadpool, but also the film itself.

Because of their unique friendship, it’s not totally surprising when the two show up in weird places together. Most recently, the two popped up in a birthday video Jackman was attempting to film.

We don’t know who the birthday message was for, specifically, but we do know that the Merc, posted up on Jackman’s bed, interrupted the well-wishes by belting out the song “Tomorrow” from the musical Annie. Jackman posted the video with the spot-on caption of “When you’re trying to record a heartfelt birthday message….but are interrupted by the least greatest showman.”

The video is nothing short of a delight, and we absolutely love when these two get together to troll each other on the internet. We’ll have to wait and see if any other Hugh Jackman jokes pop up in Deadpool 2 when it premieres on May 18, but for now we’ll just watch this video a few hundred more times.

What did you think of Jackman’s unintentional duet with Deadpool?
