Fox used their CinemaCon presentation on Thursday morning to announce and update us on a few big projects.

The studio’s presentation opened with Vanilla Ice live on stage performing “Ice, Ice Baby,” in reference to the studio’s “blockbuster” Ice Age property and to promote the series’ next film, Collision Course.

Following that moment — a moment I never thought I would witness in my life — Fox shared a couple of announcements. For starters, Deadpool 2 is officially in the works. Director Tim Miller, star Ryan Reynolds, and the rest of the creative team are all back for the sequel. No release date, title, or other details were shared, but remember: Deadpool told us at the end of the movie that Cable will be in it. We think Stephen Lang should play him.

Anna Kendrick, Adam Devin, and Zac Efron were on hand to introduce new footage from Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Following a trailer and a tease about Zac Efron getting naked live on stage, the actors shared a clip in which Anna Kendrick’s character pays for her friend Tatiana to get an extra special massage with spiritual penetration. The scene was laugh out loud funny because the masseuse played by Kumail Nanjiani was naked and getting into all types of positions on top of Tatiana. “Did we mention Fox was nominated for 30 Oscars?” Fox heads quipped after screening the outrageous footage. The movie looks really funny despite the average premise.

A big look at Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children introduced each of the children and their special abilities. Extra screens appeared on stage to highlight the individual characters, helping show off Fox’s high expectations for this film and to emphasize that this is not just any ol’ fantasy movie. This segment also looked at a recap of Tim Burton’s greatest work so far, reminding us that he is the perfect person to adapt Miss Peregrine, which opens in theaters this September.

James Cameron appeared at the end of the presentation to speak about the relationship between filmmakers and movie theaters. “We’re going to continue to make this industry the greatest show on earth,” Cameron said, adding that he believes theaters should continue to be the exclusive home for movies during their initial release (a reference to threats like Screening Room).

Then Cameron offered a big update on Avatar: “So far from what I’m seeing [for future Avatar movies] — the art on the walls, the stuff that’s been developed — in pure imagination is really beyond the first film.” He said that people who’ve seen the concept material have been “speechless.”

And with that, a bombshell: There will now be four Avatar movies. “We’ve decided to embark on a truly massive cinematic project. Each one of which stands alone, but which together form a complete saga,” said Cameron, who at last check was only working on three sequels.

Avatar 2 is scheduled for Christmas 2018, and Avatar 3 and beyond will arrive Christmas 2020, Christmas 2022, and Christmas 2023. The dates for these movies have shifted many times over the past few years, so you should take most of these dates with a grain of salt for now.

And for you Maze Runner fans: The studio said that The Death Cure is still scheduled for release in 2017 despite Dylan O’Brien’s injury on the set last month. It’s not necessarily a surprise since there’s still a ton of time for the actor to recover, but it’s good to hear!
