Daybreak, Netflix’s mashup of a post-apocalyptic adventure and high school tale has officially been axed by the streamer.

Netflix has gotten rid of another one of its original series, announcing that the post-apocalyptic show Daybreak has been canceled. The first season of the show premiered in late October, and the show’s co-creator Aron Coleite revealed the news of the cancellation on Monday night.

As Variety reports, Coleite and the team on Daybreak were surprised and saddened to hear about the cancellation, but he and the team from the show prepared a small statement that Coleite released on his Twitter.

Coleite said that though the Daybreak team was made aware of the cancellation last week, they weren’t able to make the news public until this week. And while the team was saddened by the abrupt end of the show, they were incredibly happy about the group of fans that circled around the show.

In his statement, Coleite says that he and the team at Daybreak were grateful to fans for “picking up what we put down, for running with it in all of your amazing, weird, monstrous ways and for being such an important part of the show and our experience making it.”

He goes on to say that “no one is as heartbroken as we are that we can’t share more of this ride with you. Thank you for riding with us, for your voices, your enthusiasm, your memes, your fart jokes, and your unashamed crazy. We’ll see you out there.”

Daybreak was based on Brian Ralph’s comic book of the same name and starred Colin Ford, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Sophie Simnett, Austin Crute, Cody Kearsley, Jeanté Godlock, Gregory Kasyan, Krysta Rodriguez, and Matthew Broderick. It centered around a group of teens surviving in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California.

With the show only premiering on the streamer in late October, this is a pretty quick cancellation notice, though it seems to be true to form for Netflix (see Tuca & Bertie’s quick cancellation). Of course, if you’re curious about Daybreak and haven’t seen it yet, the first season is streaming on Netflix.
