Comedic actor Dax Shepard has officially scored a recurring guest starring role in Netflix’s The Ranch.

According to The Wrap, actor Dax Shepard will be featured in a recurring guest starring role on season 3 of Netflix’s comedy starring Ashton Kutcher.

Shepard’s new role will find him playing a former soldier named Luke Matthews who’s got some history with the Iron River Ranch.

As the season progresses, Luke will find himself becoming fast friends with both Colt (Ashton Kutcher) and Beau (Sam Elliott). Camaraderie aside, however, it won’t necessarily be smooth sailing for Iron River Ranch’s new addition.

As Luke will soon discover, the past has a way of catching up to you.

Shepard’s casting comes not long after Netflix’s decision to cut ties with Kutcher’s The Ranch co-star Danny Masterson.

The decision to part ways with Masterson came after a series of sexual assault allegations were brought forth against the That 70s Show alumn this past December.

Though Shepard is the newest addition to The Ranch, it should be noted that he’s not coming in to replace Masterson’s character.

Even so, it sounds as though Dax Shepard will have a pretty meaty role to work with in season 3— especially given the newfound bond he’s set to have with Kutcher and Elliott’s characters on the show.

Netflix’s The Ranch returns for season 3 sometime in 2018.
