It was revealed this morning that four-time Harry Potter director David Yates has lined up his first project since helming the J.K. Rowling series.

Vulture learned that Yates committed to Warner Bros.’ comic-to-film adaptation of Tarzan on Monday. He is reportedly meeting with actors Henry Cavill (Man of Steel), Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim), and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood) for the role as the big man himself. Sources also say Warner Bros. wants Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), but his interest hasn’t yet been gauged.

News of Yates’ interest in the project first surfaced in June, but word had been mum since then.

Following Yates’ successful wrapping of the Harry Potter franchise, a tight relationship between he and the studio formed. At the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 press events in summer 2012, Yates made it clear that he planned to go on a vacation after working on Potter for six years straight.

Tarzan seems to be in a bit of an upward trend right now, as Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz is starring in a CGI version of the story for a 2013 release. “Tarzan and Jane Porter face a mercenary army dispatched by the evil CEO of Greystoke Energies, a man who took over the company from Tarzan’s parents, after they died in a plane crash,” read the summary.
