A few weeks ago, we reported that David Yates was in talks to direct the film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel The Stand, and now it seems another Harry Potter alumni is reportedly attached to the project.

When we reported on it first, David Yates, who is responsible for helming the final 4 Harry Potter films, was being optioned as director for the adaptation, but now IGN is reporting that both him and Steve Kloves, the writer of all but one film in the Potter franchise, are said to be closing the deal.

The Stand is a post-apocalyptic horror/fantasy novel originally published in 1978, and is one of Stephen King’s most celebrated novels. Though obviously in the very early stages of production, The Stand is said to be a “high priority” for Warner Bros. who will be bringing the multi-film adaptation to theaters in 2012.

Are you excited to see David Yates and Steve Kloves team up again? We are!
