Lincoln actor David Strathairn is the latest star rumored to join the Godzilla reboot!

Variety states that Strathairn is the latest actor in negotiations to join the Godzilla reboot, due out in theaters and IMAX on May 16, 2014. The character descriptions and plot details are currently being withheld, but sources state that Stratharin would portray a military figure.

Strathairn most recently starred as Secretary of State William Seward, the 16th President’s right-hand-man, in Spielburg’s Lincoln. He has also been Oscar nominated for his role in Good Night, and Good Luck, and starred as Noah Vosen in The Bourne Legacy.

Recently, we’ve learned that Juliette Binoche, Elizabeth Olsen, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are in negotiations to star in the reboot, which will be written by Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce. It’ll be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters).

A poster was teased last year at Comic-Con, and Legendary Pictures has stated:

“Producer Brian Rogers expresses the desire to reboot the giant beast’s mythos (similar to Batman Begins) but stay true to his roots. Also, expect the 2012 film to feature a monster mash. Yes, ‘Godzilla’ will be taking on another creature or creatures.”

Are you happy Strahairn will most likely join the film? What are your thoughts on a Godzilla reboot?
