Batman vs. Superman writer David S. Goyer is reportedly pitching a Sandman film starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Warner Bros.

Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comic has been off and on in terms of development over the last few years, and now it seems that Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer has grabbed Warner Bros.’ attention by pitching an adaptation of the comic starring JGL.

Badass Digest reports that Goyer has already pitched the film to WB and they’re “very receptive” to the idea, especially with Gordon-Levitt in the lead role.

He would be playing the character Morpheus, apparently, and the film would be loosely based on the comic which was launched back in 1989.

BD reports that while Warner Bros. is interested, the film is in the extremely early days of the process and may actually never be made. It’s a shot in the dark essentially.

The important thing to remember is that Goyer has extreme pull with Warner Bros. right now, since he is currently penning the script for Batman vs. Superman, which will star Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman.

Goyer is also a very big pusher in terms of DC comics and wants Warner Bros. to go all-in with the DC comic’s world and this would certainly keep him on the right path. Plus, we’ve all been dying to see if Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be involved in any DC adaptations in the future after his role in The Dark Knight Rises.

We’ll be following this closely, as the writer and actor are pretty much at the top of their game, and we think they certainly have the potential to create an interesting DC adaptation. Are our DC fans interested in seeing JGL in a Sandman film as Morpheus?
