Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Volume 2 (aka the soundtrack for the new movie) has lots of familiar songs — save for one.

When we saw the “set list” for the new mixtape, an entirely new song was listed amongst many classics: “Guardians Inferno” by The Sneepers, featuring iconic ’80s star David Hasselhoff.

So what the hell is this new David Hasselhoff song? It’s been released ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hitting theaters May 5, and it’s delightful. It’s mostly an instrumental remix of the movie’s theme… until you reach David Hasselhoff’s rap, in which he recaps the film’s world.

A sample of the lyrics in “Guardians Inferno”:

Getting down and dirty with a procyon lotor
Got no people skills but he’s good with motors
That weird thing by his side an infantilized sequoia
The two of them walk by, people say “Oh Boy-a”

They ask me why I’m bringing a baby into battle.
That’s really irresponsible and getting them rattled
I say give me a break, get off of my back, dammit!
I didn’t learn parenting
My daddy was a planet

And at the end? “In these times of hardship, just remember: We. Are. Groot.”

Why Hasselhoff for this one, other than the obvious connection to the ’80s? Star-Lord loves him.
