Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer has revealed that while Batman would definitely be part of a Justice League film, he wouldn’t be played by Christian Bale.

A Justice League movie seems more and more imminent every day, and with each day, we get more clues as to what it might look like.

In a recent interview, Goyer, who is also Christoper Nolan’s writing partner, contended that Man of Steel, rather than Batman Begins, would be the jumping off point for a possible Justice League movie, saying, “It would be disingenuous to say Warner Bros doesn’t hope that this would be the starting point for a shared universe”

We knew Man of Steel was designed to set up Justice League, but now we have an idea of what that really means.

Goyer went on to say that he and Man of Steel director Zack Snyder have discussed the decision to create a totally different world than he and Nolan had established, saying, “Zack has said that Bruce Wayne exists in this universe. It would be a different Bruce Wayne from Chris’ [Nolan] Dark Knight trilogy.”

He did not get into how Nolan would fit into a Justice League movie or a re-reimagining of the Batman story. Nolan, who executive-produced and co-wrote Man Of Steel, is credited with revitalizing Batman with the Dark Knight trilogy.

Goyer also talked about the future of other DC characters whose futures hinge on Man of Steel‘s box office performance, saying, “Warner Bros has hopes that there will be more Man Of Steel films, and that this will be the beginning of a shared universe. We could meet Batman, or Wonder Woman, or the Justice League in these movies.”

In the interview, he also mentions a possible The Flash film.

A sequel has already been set for Man of Steel , which opened today.
