Darren Criss is heading to Italy! Not for a much deserved rest, but to star in a new romantic comedy.

As soon as the curtain falls on Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Darren Criss will be on a plane to Italy to begin work on his new film project Smitten!. The film is written by Barry Morrow, who took home the Oscar for his screenplay of Rain Man in 1989. Smitten! is Morrow’s directorial debut.

The description of the film, provided by THR, reads, “[Smitten! is an enchanted fable, a caper with four romances, centering around a young American fashion executive (Criss) who gets kidnapped and taken into the alpine mountains by three bumbling members of the mafia.” The role is a tailor fit for Criss who is fresh off serving as a New York Men’s Fashion Week ambassador earlier this week.

This project will keep Criss busy as the initial itinerary expands over seven weeks split between Fane Alm, Southern Tyrol and Rome.
