Danielle L. Jensen’s Dark Shores follows a feisty pirate and a rigid soldier as they’re forced to expand a tyrannical ruler’s kingdom. Check out the cover reveal and first two chapters here!

A pirate and a soldier make one hell of a team, but the Dark Shores have that name for a reason, and they won’t be easily taken. What will it cost for each of our heroes, and how much are they willing to give up in order to survive?

The Dark Shores cover plays right into that theme with a gorgeous cover. You can check out our exclusive reveal below:

Of the cover, Jensen says:

I have a deep fascination with understanding the motivation of evil, the why being more compelling to me than the what. It was this fascination that inspired me to write Dark Shores, which, while it has its heroes, is actually the antagonistic force’s side of the story. It is the why.

Needless to say, when my editor told me that Tor Teen had commissioned Billelis to design the cover, I shrieked into the phone, because I knew my book was in the right hands. His dark and gritty style is absolutely perfect, and every time I look at the cover I pick out a new detail. The Dark Shores world is the most epic and expansive of anything I’ve written – global in scale – yet this cover manages to capture everything from the beauty of the senatorial villas to the harshness of the legion camps to the freedom of the Maarin ships to the mystery of the Dark Shores themselves. Most of all, it captures the heart of the novel: that choices have costs, and they are often far greater than my characters wish to pay.
