The Dark Knight Rises pre-release tracking shows the Batman finale will end up being the highest grossing opening non-3D film ever.

THR is reporting that The Dark Knight Rises will beat The Dark Knight’s 2008 opening of $154.4 million when it hits theaters July 20, the same weekend the previous film opened on.

Tracking numbers for The Dark Knight Rises aren’t very far behind The Avengers, although, The Dark Knight Rises won’t have 3D ticket prices to help boost its box office numbers and it’s also fairly long, at just over 164 minutes in length.

According to people who have seen Monday’s tracking numbers, Unaided Awareness has Dark Knight Rises at 19, where they had The Avengers at 20. First Choice has Dark Knight Rises at 30, as apposed to the 33 they had for The Avengers and Definite Interest has Dark Knight Rises at 66, compared to the 65 they had for Avengers.

The only demo lacking for The Dark Knight Rises appears to be females, who seem to be less interested in the Batman finale than they were for The Avengers.

Without the aide of 3D, we could see The Dark Knight Rises struggling to hit The Avengers‘ box office numbers, but it will most certainly go on an incredible box office run.
