Although Netflix has allegedly pushed The Punisher back to 2018, the Daredevil spinoff might just hit in 2017 after all.

With Luke Cage premiering later this year, it’s easy to forget the sad fact that we have to wait a long time for Jessica Jones season 2.

Marvel’s only surviving female-led superhero series is one of the shows that’ll be affected by the wealth of new content coming to Netflix in the coming years: With Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Defenders first priority, Ted Sarandos has confirmed that Jessica Jones season 2, Daredevil season 3 and The Punisher are on hold until 2018.

But a new report from Comic Book Resources indicates that Netflix is at least setting Daredevil‘s spinoff series The Punisher for 2017.

The news comes via a screengrab pulled from Netflix’s mobile app, via CBR, which appears to attach a 2017 date to the series, along with a short description:

The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal, who is reprising his role as Frank Castle, who debuted in Daredevil season 2.

Said Punisher shorwrunner Steve Lightfoot when the spinoff was first announced:

“For me, the complexity and unpredictability of Frank Castle make him an incredibly compelling character and I couldn’t be more excited to dive into his world. After watching Jon’s performance in ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ I could not be more excited to be working with him to further develop and progress the story of this anti-hero in a show of his own.”
